Neil Olcott – Lead Pastor

Neil Olcott, after becoming a Christ-follower, began his ministry career by serving as a youthPastor for eight years. He saw God do amazing things in the life of the young people God had entrusted to his care. The youth group doubled and then tripled in size, and Pastor Neil sensed God’s anointing and blessing on his life to be a pastor. Many years of being both a pastor and a student followed as Pastor Neil worked for and received his Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, his Masters of Divinity degree and finally a Doctorate in Preaching from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, all while simultaneously serving in the local church in roles from custodian to Senior Pastor. Equipped with years of education and experience, Pastor Neil has been involved in ministry for nearly 30 years. These years have groomed him and formed him into the pastor he is today.

Compass Point was started by looking at God’s principles and ideas for what church should be about. The goal has been to jettison those practices that demonstrate a drifting away from God’s principles while embracing all that makes God “smile” when the body of Christ “gets it right.” What if a church could accentuate and celebrate the good of the church and downplay and diminish the negative?

That is what Pastor Neil has as a vision for Compass Point Church — striving to “get it right,” so as to honor Christ and His vision for His Church, while guiding people to meet Jesus Christ — “The Way” — and live for Him. All this is to be done as the church focuses on proclaiming the Gospel message both in words and deeds.Pastor Neil is married to his bride of 30 years, Pat, and has three grown children, Jocelyn, Emery, and Annaliese

Tristin Schambach – Worship Leader

Tristin Schambach, has always had a desire to be involved in ministry and in the church. Growing up in a pastor’s family, she has been involved in church since she was a child.

Her family being very musical, Tristin started singing when she could talk and began taking piano lessons when she was five. She was involved in children’s choirs and plays through grade school. Tristin began leading worship at the age of 12 in children’s church. It was at that time that she felt a call on her life to lead worship not only through music but also through her walk with the Lord. She led worship throughout middle school and high school, from her youth group of 50 to Sunday services with 500 people.

Tristin went to Evangel University to pursue a degree in music with an emphasis on the music industry and worship and a Bible minor. She became involved at Evangel by leading worship in chapels and campus events, along with singing with Evangel’s ministry choir and opera programs.

After her time at Evangel, Tristin moved to Indianapolis, In to work at Lakeview Church, where she assisted with a worship team and choir of about 75 members. She gained experience with administration in the church office, along with getting involved in starting a young adult ministry. Since then she has had the privilege of working with worship teams and leading worship in several different venues with 50 to 3,000 people.

Tristin has been married to her husband Jimmy since November of 2013. Jimmy, a seminary graduate, works for M28, a non-profit organization that helps men and women in transition get their lives back on track. Tristin is currently working at Classical Academic Press, a publishing company in the Camp Hill area. Tristin has a desire to lead others into worship through every facet- glorifying the Lord through praise in song, excellence in musicianship, and training others to excel in their gifts. It is her desire to lead others in worship with the same longing written in Psalm 103:1-2 – “Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name.”
